Destination Downtown: Valentine’s Day

With the week of Valentine’s Day upon us, we know you are planning and plotting how you will make this week extra special. Let us give you some ideas of how to make downtown your ultimate destination this Valentine’s Day!

The festivities can start early with different events happening downtown all week! If you’re feeling dinner and a show, then check out “Finding Neverland – The Musical”  at the Grand Opera House starting at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday and Wednesday. Show off how much of a Valentine’s Day guru you are by competing in Valentine’s Day trivia at Just Tap’d on Tuesday, February 12 from 8:00 – 10:00 P.M..

If you haven’t taken care of ordering flowers yet, don’t fret! There are two florists downtown that let you order flowers online. Jean and Hall Florists offers same-day delivery for last minute gift needs in Macon.  Lawrence Mayer Florist has exclusive Valentine’s Day arrangements available for delivery from Monday through Thursday, February 14. Shop for your special someone and enjoy a glass of wine at Macon Arts Alliance’s Day of Wine and Roses. This two day event will be on Wednesday from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. and 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, and you can receive a rose with purchase while supplies last.

With over thirty restaurants open downtown, what better place is there to have a unique dining experience? Don’t forget Just Tap’d is having their annual Valentine’s Day special  – Beer My Valentine! They offer one Margherita pizza, your choice of any 2 pints, and a delicious brownie for only $25 from 2:00 – 11:00 P.M.. After choosing a quality local restaurant, take a romantic stroll through the alleys connecting downtown. The lights and exposed brick will give you the perfect Instagram-worthy background, and be sure to use the hashtag #DTMac to show off your date! Looking to continue your stroll? Go on the Macon Sculpture Walk and enjoy the public art downtown.

You can show off your artistic ability and walk away with a souvenir from the night by signing up for a Corks & Canvas class at the 567 Center for Renewal. It wouldn’t be a night in downtown Macon without quality music for you to choose from! Join in on An Evening with Béla Fleck at Hargray Capitol Theatre, or request your favorite long songs at Macon’s Dueling Piano Bar Valentine’s Day Singalong. You can also stop by The Hummingbird Stage and Taproom will be hosting their Valentine’s Day Stoplight Party!

Wrap up the sweetest of days with the sweetest of treats by choosing from Decadent Desserts, Taste & See, or Felicia’s Cake Factory. When you’re sharing how great your date is, don’t forget to use #DTMac!
