Bragg Jam Bests

The staff at NewTown Macon looks forward to Bragg Jam each and every year. Between seeing incredible music acts, enjoying local brews, and making memories we (mostly) won’t forget, we are thrilled to the see the city streets of downtown Macon crowded and bustling at one of downtown Macon’s signature events. NewTown staffers share some of our favorite things about Bragg Jam.

Josh Rogers, President & CEO

Every year I have a memory worth sharing, but few I’m willing to admit publicly.  My favorite was seeing Drive By Truckers in the old 550 Blues on Riverside Drive.  No A/C, people packed shoulder to shoulder and the band on a 6″ stage in your face.

Erin Keller, Vice President for Development

Our staff uses our office as “home base” during Bragg Jam every year and we get to create memories outside of the office during one of downtown’s biggest events of the year.

Emily Hopkins, Director of Place

I always study up for Bragg Jam by listening to the incredible Spotify playlist the Bragg Jam board so diligently curates. I go into each Bragg Jam with a list of bands I want to see but honestly, the best shows I’ve seen are those that I stumbled upon! Rainbow Kitten Surprise at the Library Ballroom in 2016 was one of my favorite surprises to date.

Mike Ford, Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Director

Bragg Jam offers exciting music in incredible venues with a purpose -raising money for the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.

My favorite band of all time is Cicada Rhythm. The first time I saw them play was at Just Tap’d during 2016’s Bragg Jam and later on that day they played at Hummingbird. I still have the CD I bought at that first show and have seen them play multiple times with the last show being at the Creek Stage where we booked a stage side table to the see the new and improved band with the addition of a drummer.
