THE HOLIDAYS

During the month of December, downtown Macon is transformed into a magical holiday destination. City streets are adorned with over 500,000 lights as part of the Main Street Christmas Light Extravaganza and the district is abuzz with holiday shoppers and merry-makers attending dozens of festive events throughout the season.

Shop Small Saturday

Support local businesses by shopping small in downtown Macon! Shop Small Saturday, sponsored by American Express, is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. For every $100 spent with a locally owned business, $68 stays in the community. Purchasing an album at your local vinyl shop, a pair of shoes at your neighborhood boutique, or a burger at or your favorite dive is a tiny investment in your community and offers a completely unique experience

Downtown Macon boasts 32 retailers, 52 restaurants, 6 art galleries, 33 bars and entertainment venues, and 5 historic theaters. All are locally owned and operated.

When you shop local, you're supporting your fellow community members.
