The biggest impacts on my business because of the Academy include reaching my target market and thinking more accurately about my cost of operations to better understand my cost of product and cost to customers. Finding my target market has allowed our efforts in advertising to be more accurate and produce a higher volume of interested customers.

In 2018, with the support of Knight Foundation and in collaboration with the University of Georgia's JW Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, NewTown Macon launched our first ever Entrepreneur's Academy. Fourteen participants graduated in the fall of 2018 and another 16 participants graduated in the second cohort in the fall of 2019. Participating businesses have included Cheers Entertainment Services, Carbel's Beauty Salon, Gamez on Wheelz, StARTup Studios, and Travis Jean Emporium.
NewTown Macon launched the Entrepreneur's Academy to provide training and professional leadership development to aspiring and growth-oriented entrepreneurs. The purpose of the training is to improve participants' ability to develop an informed business plan. By the end of the program, participants will have completed key components of their start-up or growth plan. The program also focuses on the basics of business finance and how to successfully secure funding for your venture, including applying for a first-time small business loan from NewTown Loans.
